House Springs Preservation
The House Springs Preservation (HSP) is a historical park. The area includes a beautiful natural spring. It and the adjoining land was owned by the House family in the early 1800s. House Springs was named after the House family and the natural spring on their property. Ownership of the spring was later taken over by Jefferson County. In an effort to preserve the spring and its history, the county turned over ownership to the HSP.
The HSP works in conjunction with the Northwest Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce (NWJCCC) to continually improve and maintain the park. There have been huge improvements made to the park over the past three years. It currently has the spring which runs under a small bridge in the park and into a pond. The HSP has added a fountain and a variety of fish in the pond. The area was recently seeded to allow for new grass growth. Part of the park has been designed to house nine flower beds. The area is surrounded on three sides by native wildflower areas.
